Willie T. Claiborne

Willie T. Claiborne, 70, of City Mill Road, Lancaster, PA passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Jarratt, Virginia, he was the husband of Gloria Mae Major Claiborne and they celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on November 25th. He was the son of the late Willie T. and Lovett C. Brown Claiborne. After graduation, Willie went in to the service proudly representing the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He then worked as a truck driver, for North American Van Lines for 25 years, traveling the US. A member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Willie loved his faith in God. He took care of Gloria and his family and had a special love for his children, grandchildren, and siblings. He enjoyed collecting coins, tee shirts, hats, and former President Obama memorabilia. He was formerly of Baltimore/Washington DC area and was a Washington Redskins fan. He loved the holidays, music and dancing, his yorkie, Diaglo, and will be remembered as having a good heart and sharing whatever he had. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Tina M., wife of David T. Williams, Juanita Ayantola, son, Carlos A., husband of Amanda Claiborne, all of Lancaster, God daughter, Amaya Davis, Philadelphia, PA; three sisters, Fay, wife of Joe Tompkin, Carolyn Craig, all of Washington, DC, Ruth, wife of John Faison, Princeton, NC; three brothers, Ray, Ralph, and Richard, all of Washington, DC; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Willie T. Claiborne, III in 1998, sisters, Alma and Phyllis Claiborne, Mary White, and a brother Leon Brown. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Willie’s Home Going Service at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 701 N. Lime St., Lancaster, PA 17602 on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with The Rev. Roland P. Forbes officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church on Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment and Military Honors will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the attention of “Outreach” at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 701 N.
