William J. Schebler, Sr.

William J. Schebler, Sr., 75, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late William J. and Phyllis M. (Rueb) Schebler. He was married to his wife, the late Rosemary E. Schebler, for over 40 years. William graduated from Southampton Senior High School in 1965. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1969. His service earned him a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He worked as maintenance supervisor for the Griest Building for 12 years, and then as a mechanic for Ressler Refrigeration, and retired in 2014 from Triangle Refrigeration. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for over 50 years and served on the church council. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports, especially the Giants, and working with tools. He could fix anything and was always willing to help. William loved Elvis, and although he could not carry a tune, he sang along loudly. He took a trip to Memphis to visit Graceland and enjoyed trips to Disney World. He cherished his time as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout troop leader. He is survived by his son, William J. Schebler, Jr., daughters, Rebecca Lee, wife of John, and Susanne Ile, grandchildren, Ronald Ile, Trevor Lee, Marissa Lee, Rebecca Ile, Sybilla Ile, sister, Phyllis Early, several nieces and nephews, brother-in-law, Andrew Musselman, sisters-in-law, Marian Trovinger and Susanne Maser, and godsons, David Huss and Peter Dilda. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Schebler, and sister, Georganne Schebler. Relatives and friends are invited to William’s Memorial Service at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2 W. Strawberry Street, Lancaster, PA 17603, on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with The Rev. H. James Tanner officiating. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Parking for the service is located behind the Church at 401 Lafayette Street. Interment will follow at Conestoga Memorial Park with Military Funeral Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church.
