Rosemarie Vilma Seminara

Rosemarie Vilma Seminara, 92, of Lititz, PA, passed peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024, surrounded by the warm love of her children and grandchildren. Born in Queens, NY, the daughter of Michael and Marie Sottosanti, she was the loving wife of the late Nicholas Charles Seminara who died in 1995. Those who knew Vilma, knew a strong, elegant, kind, and selfless beauty who always saw the good in others, consistent with her faith in Christ. Vilma graduated from Marymount College of Tarrytown, NY in 1952 with a degree in English Literature and earned her master’s degree in 1971 from C.W. Post of Long Island University. She taught high school English in Babylon, NY, Palmyra, PA and Warwick, PA. Vilma relocated to Lancaster in 1978 and began her real estate career in the 1980s, retiring from Lancaster Real Estate as a Broker in 2017. She was also a long-time member and a past president of the Lancaster Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association. For over fifty years, Vilma passionately advocated for the rights and opportunities of people with disabilities and served the United Support Group of Lancaster (now known as Excentia Human Services) as a member of the Board as well as a regular volunteer. She was also a member of the Lancaster Italian Cultural Society. Vilma was loved and will be greatly missed by her six children and their spouses, Jovanna Porter and her husband Ross of Hendersonville NC, Bob and his wife Linda of Lititz, Marie Seminara Colton and her husband Dr. Carl Colton of Sarasota FL, Michael and his wife Lucie of Lancaster, Nick and his wife Lisa of Avon CT, and Christine Seminara of Lititz. Vilma had great love for her thirteen grandchildren, Izach, Nicole, Michael, Lynette, Anna, Ashley Jr., Martina, Nicole, Madelyn, Aimee, Ronny, Nicholas E., and Nicholas J.; spouses of grandchildren, Stefi, Jaccob and Dahee; her five great-grandchildren, Ashton, Caiden, Arden, Aleksander, and Wesley; as well as many nieces and nephews. Vilma was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Robert and Josephine Seminara, her sister, Perry and her husband George Giaccone, her sister, Maria and her husband Vincent Balletta, her sister-in-law, Mariana Sottosanti, and her brother-in-law, Len Seminara. She is survived by her dear brother, Vincent Sottosanti and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Seminara. Friends may visit the family for Vilma’s wake at The Groffs Family Funeral Home, 528 W. Orange Street, Lancaster on Friday, February 23 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Avenue, Lititz on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow Mass at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery in Lancaster.
