Robert "Bob" C. Haas

Robert “Bob” C. Haas, 71, of Lancaster, PA, entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, February 24, 2025. Born in Hawley, PA, he was the son of the late Irene (Tos) Haas and Edward J. Haas. Bob was a proud graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, Class of 1971. He attended the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy from 1971 to 1973 and earned his nursing degree from HACC School of Nursing in 2011. A man of deep faith and service, Bob was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and a devoted parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Terri, with whom he shared 51 wonderful years of marriage; his four children, Angie (Dave), Bobby (TaWanda), Frank (Rebecca), and Becky (Grant); and his 15 cherished grandchildren: Trey, Chase, Crew, Rowan, Kaiya, Amir, Madison, Grace, Joey, Andrew, Tony, Jane, Evelyn, Henry, and Thomas. He is also survived by his two brothers, Ed (Sharon) and Dan (Kathy); his sister, Kitty (Kerry); many loving nieces and nephews; and his six grand fur babies. Bob's sidekick Nellie will miss him the most as "crinky fest" will not be the same anymore. Take a seat, grab a Bud Light Platinum or perhaps do a snakebite shot! Let us tell you about our favorite human. A man of many monikers, perhaps the original one of “Dad” that started with his lifelong love, Terri, of 55 years, and the beginning of his extraordinary life. Dad who was known as “Dutch” to his college buddies, recycled that name once again on his name badge when he changed careers and became a nurse. As a matter of fact, his coworkers might not have known his name was actually Bob… they said “Oh! the guy who wears the tie-dye? The guy that wears the funny socks? Ohh Dutch?” Yes, that was our Dad. That is a snippet of his personality. Never a dull moment. Besides his dead pan dry-wit humor, he had a serious work ethic. He could brag (but didn’t) that he never called in sick in over 30 years on the night shift - which by the way, he preferred, so he could be there for us when we got home from school to make us dinner and go to every single one of our extracurricular activities. Pretty sure the man slept about 4 hours a day for 34 years! His sleep most likely decreased to 3 hours a day when he decided to go back to school at the ripe old age of 53 and become an RN and STILL work 3rd shift, LOL. Our dad, however, knew how to have fun. 11AM Mass on Sundays was always followed by walks for slushies than to the 6th Ward Park. Sunday family dinner was a staple. As we grew older, we all stayed close by. He was the anchor, the facilitator, the heart of the family whom everyone wanted to be around. A man who made everyone feel welcomed. He may not have been overly wordy and emotional, but you knew he was there. “K? Love you.” Throughout the years he developed even more monikers as he became a grandfather. He eased into grandparenthood like a smooth slice of red velvet cake (his fave). He was known as “Jagee”, “Dutchman”, “Sabba Bob” and “Grampy”. Each of those names was unique to the grandkids and fur grandbabies. One of the biggest compliments he could receive was when a stranger asked if he was their dad! Rightfully so because he acted just like them! Scrolling through his Snapchats you will find videos of him skateboarding, trick or treating, pushing runaway carts in big box stores, hiding in the paper towel aisles, hoverboarding, making TikTok’s, challenging anyone to try the strongest hot sauce he could find, doing “the Judy”, proudly showing off his latest keychain, etc. He just loved having fun. He was their partner in crime. He could not be any prouder! This man owns the most spirit wear in the county to rep all of the schools and colleges his grandkids went to. He may have even “accidentally” pretended to be a player in order to purchase a special jacket! Whether it was sports, musicals, band, or trail hiking - he supported all of them and they knew it. There was never a doubt where you stood in this man’s life. Whether you were a friend, a coworker, a family member, his wife, his kids and grandkids, you felt like his best friend. It might have been your inside joke with him or the way he would show up with some random funny keychain, somehow, someway, you always felt at ease. Perhaps it was the way he was dressed, the side eye, eye roll, the way he smiled, or laughed, but you knew. “A smile relieves a heart that grieves”- Waiting on a Friend, The Rolling Stones To honor Bob, please feel free to wear pink, tie-dye, shorts, or anything Rolling Stones at his service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to gather and pay their respects beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s New Catholic Cemetery.
