Ralph W. Coho,

Ralph W. “Buzz” Coho, Jr., 97, of Willow Street, PA died at his home on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. Born on the 4th of July in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Ralph W. and Lillie Eby Coho. He was married 48 years to the late Jean H. Coho who died in 1985. Buzz graduated from Lancaster Boy’s High School, Class of ’32. He worked at Westwood Colliery, Inc. from 1937-1958 and served as the president of the company from 1941 to 1958. He retired from Daffin Corporation as a Vice President and General Manager and also worked for Armstrong Cork Co. and was a founder of Lancaster-Lincoln Mercury. A long time Rotarian, he joined Rotary in 1934 as one of the youngest members of the Lancaster Rotary Club at age 19. Known to many in Lancaster as Mr. Rotary, he held numerous Chapter and District Titles over the years, and was instrumental in founding 11 of the 48 Rotary Chapters in District 7390, starting with the Lancaster Northeast Club in 1954 and still attended meetings at two – Lancaster Sunrise and Lancaster South – weekly. A flagpole was installed in his name at Manheim Township Public Library in 2010 at Overlook Park. His motto was to live by the Rotary 4-Way test. He was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ where he served as a deacon and was a member of consistory. He founded the St. Peter’s Endowment Fund and served on the committee and was a host at the church for many years. Buzz is survived by his son; Kenneth F. Coho of Copperopolis, CA; a grandson; Kenneth F. Coho, Jr. of Sacramento, CA. He was preceded in death by two brothers: James P. Coho and Frank E. Coho. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 816 Buchanan Avenue, Lancaster with the Rev. Bonnie Hollinger officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ralph’s name to the Endowment Fund at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 815 Buchanan Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603.
