Preston Barry Kline

Preston Barry Kline, 67, of Lancaster, entered into rest Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at home. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Preston H. Kline, of Landisville, and the late Mary Jane Mehaffey Kline. Barry was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, class of 1961. Following graduation he served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked with his family at The Weave Shop for many years, and other carpet companies, as well as the used car business. However, he received the most pleasure working at the Tag Shop, which he and his wife established in 1999. Working at the Tag Shop, he enjoyed the many customers that would come into his shop for him to share his terrific humor and wit, with a repertoire of jokes that made him laugh, as well as his friends. He grew up going to St. James Episcopal Church, where he sang in the choir. Barry enjoyed his home and family, sharing it with others, and hosting many parties. In his youth he spent time with his family at a summer cottage in Red Point, Md. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching the Eagles and Phillies play. Some of his pastimes were golfing and cooking, and helping many with his great wisdom and advice. In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Jo Groome Kline, of Lancaster; and two sons, Preston Matt, husband of Amber Kline, of Grants Pass, Ore., and Joel Walter, husband of Donata Kline, of Lancaster. He is also survived by a brother, Craig Kline, husband of Shirley, of Landisville, and a sister, Debra, wife of John Richard Bramble, of Ephrata. He enjoyed his three grandchildren, Tatum Kline, Renny Kline and Tess Kline. He was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Kline. A memorial services to celebrate Barry’s life will be held Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at 11 a.m. at The Groffs Family Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., 528 W. Orange St. (corner of Orange and Pine streets), Lancaster. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Private family interment.
