Phyllis R. Warble

Phyllis Rubin Warble, age 71, of Manheim, passed away at the Masonic Homes in Elizabethtown, PA surrounded by loved ones on Friday, November 23, 2018. Raised in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of the late Lillian Safran. She was the wife to Walter R. Warble since 1999. After graduating from High School, Phyllis got her degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology specializing in textile design. She moved to Lancaster to raise her family and begin her career as a visual merchandising Manager. This was highlighted by twenty years with Boscov’s and becoming a Regional Manager. She was a member of The Red Hat Society, The Coterie Club, and was passionate about the arts including ballet and theatre. Phyllis was a survivor in her health during her life. This was most notable in the receiving of a kidney transplant twenty years ago from her son. She was incredibly family-oriented as well as maintained a close, tight-knit group of friends that were with her in good and tougher times. She played mahjong, loved to travel and see Frank Lloyd Wright architecture and listened to a variety of music including oldies and disco. Phyllis was known for her brisket, homemade stuffing and matzo ball soup. Phyllis is survived by her daughter Barri Karpewicz (Kevin) of Fallston, MD and son Jeffrey Monchik (Tiffanie) of Marietta, PA. Three step-daughters Diane Broad of Corvallis, OR, Brooke Sorenson of Senoia, GA and Rebecca Warble of Harrisburg, PA. Four grandchildren Lillian Karpewicz, Ryan Karpewicz, Evan Karpewicz, and Alex Monchik; sister Naomi Rubin, Los Angeles, CA and niece, Tanya Smith, Los Angeles, CA. Three step-grandchildren Jenna Walter, Aubrey Broad and Nathan Sorenson. Services will be held at Congregation Shaarai Shomayim, 75 E. James Street, Lancaster, PA on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rabbi Jack Paskoff officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Temple Beth El Cemetery, Lititz, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in memory of Phyllis are made to the Penn Transplant Institute.
