Myra Dorothy Emanuele

Myra Dorothy Emanuele, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at her home in Virginia Beach, VA. with her loving family by her side. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Richard D. Emanuele Sr. and their three children Richard D. Emanuele Jr., Mary L. Emanuele (her husband Andy Moffatt), Michael G. Emanuele (his wife Stacey Emanuele). She was also blessed with seven grandchildren Ashley, Ryan, Joshua, Bella, Christopher, Alyssa, and Andi, and her great grandchild Jamison, and many nieces and nephews, all whom she cherished. Myra was born on December 31, 1947 in Lancaster, PA, the only child of George T. McCann and Mary Gladys (Broome) McCann. She graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School, attended Millersville University, was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and lived on Caroline Street from birth through college. She worked as a proofreader before meeting Richard on a blind date arranged by her childhood best friend Rose. Myra married Richard three months later, beginning her 22-year adventure as a United States Navy wife and homemaker. She traveled with Richard on military orders and raised their children in California, Italy, Virginia, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and returned to Virginia Beach, VA. Myra was faithful, loyal, and supportive wife to her Sailor, with unwavering support to her husband, our country, and American ideals. Myra was very proud that all three of her children joined the US Navy and she relocated to Vermont, California, and North Carolina before returning once again to Virginia Beach, Virginia to enjoy her final years. She enjoyed working as a baker at Farm Fresh, Walmart, Hannaford’s and Sam’s Club bakeries. She loved spending time with her family, friends and keeping up with everyone on Facebook. Her favorite things were diet pepsi, game shows, Lifetime and Hallmark movies, Celine Dion, Harrison Ford and the color yellow. Myra was quiet source of strength, patient and kind, and a fighter as a survivor of Stage-3 colon cancer for over 21 years. Myra was also a devoted Lutheran whose values were always distinctly shown through her actions. Her generous nature and kindhearted spirit were felt by those who had the privilege to know her. She had an untarnished character that was visible the moment you met her. Her fantastic personality was one that exhibited truth, honor, kindness, humility and graciousness. This earthly world was blessed by this woman, and she will be greatly missed. Family and friends are invited to attend Myra’s Celebration of Life Funeral Service on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 31 S. Duke Street, Lancaster, PA 17602. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
