Mildred Lucille Hargrove

It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of our beloved Mildred L. Hargrove, 76, of Lancaster, PA. She transitioned peacefully at home during the late afternoon on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. She was born in the summer of 1946, to the late George Hargrove and Sadie Macklin Hargrove in Farmville, Virginia of Prince Edward County. When her mother made the decision, the family moved to Lancaster where she became a resident during her early childhood and matriculated through the School District of Lancaster. After high school, she worked various jobs until she obtained employment at RCA, Inc. as an Assembler and transitioned to Burle Industries Inc. when the company changed owners. Mildred retired from her employer after 30-plus years. Mildred joined the illustrious women of Silvery Moon Chapter No. 56, Deborah Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star in 1992 and remained essential with service until her illness. Mildred is survived by one son, James S. Hargrove of Reading, and one daughter Tonya M. Hargrove of Delaware. Sisters, Ida Harris of Virginia and Ezell (Cindy) Williams of Lancaster. One brother, Theodore (Teddy) Hargrove of Lancaster. Grandchildren, Jessica, Tasha, Stephanie, Steven, Nathan, Anthony, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. Brothers who preceded her in death, John Hargrove (wife Viola), George Hargrove Jr. (wife Ellen), Percy Hargrove, and Frank Hargrove (wife Annie B.) Although unyielding at times, Mildred strived for happiness for her children. She devoted time to family, donated to various charities, volunteered locally, and shared her friendship and kindness with others as she would always help others during their time of need. She was an avid listener of music, enjoyed dancing and traveling, and enjoyed having great times and making memories with her besties. We are grateful for the time God has graced us with her presence on earth and we will miss her abundantly. The Funeral Service will be held at The Groffs Family Funeral Home, 528 W. Orange Street, Lancaster, PA 17603, on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. The visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Interment will be held at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery and the Repass will ensue at the Crispus Attucks Community Center, 407 Howard Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17602.
