Mary Mildred McKinney

Mary Mildred McKinney, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to gather with and entertain her family, died Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Ephrata Manor after a brief illness. She was 97. Born in Lancaster, the daughter of B. Franklin and Mary Dussinger Yunginger, she was married to W. Parke McKinney for 66 years until his death in 2012. Millie came from a large family and loved nothing better than being with loved ones. She especially enjoyed attending the annual Yunginger family reunions, going to Avalon, New Jersey, every summer, and knitting and painting Santa Claus figurines. She attended McCaskey High School and as a young woman modeled clothing for Garvin’s Department Store. She worked at Hamilton Watch, Watt & Shand, Adler’s women’s clothing store and Veitch Printing. Millie was a longtime member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, where she volunteered in a variety of capacities over the years. She is survived by a son, The Rev. Dr. William P. McKinney and his wife, Victoria, of Yardley, and a daughter, Lisa D. Eshleman, wife of Russell, of Landisville. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Nadine (John) Michalak, Grant (Deborah) McKinney, Andrew (Kim) Eshleman, Angela (Jason) Dobrzykowski and Adam (Kady) Eshleman, as well as 13 great-grandchildren. Three sisters and a brother also survive: Nancy Rhoads, Anabel Gockley, Yvonne Baker and Roland Yunginger. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Debra McKinney, as well as two sisters, Janice and Susan, and four brothers, C. Norman, B. Frank, Charles and Joseph. The family would like to thank the staff at Ephrata Manor for their kindness and Millie’s excellent care. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Service at 11:00 a.m., a luncheon at 12:00 noon all at the Otterbein United Methodist Church, 20 East Clay Street, Lancaster, PA 17602. Interment at Conestoga Memorial Park will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Otterbein Church or to the Ephrata Manor Benevolent Fund, 99 Bethany Road, Ephrata, PA 17522.
