Mary M. Dommel

Mary M. Dommel, 76, died on Wednesday evening, November 11, 2015 at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy. She was the daughter of the late Howard H. and Dorothy E. Henderson Hartman and the wife of Lawrence W. Dommel who died in 2004. Born in Lancaster, Mary married her sweetheart at a beautiful young age of 16 with the blessing of their parents. Married 49 years, she traveled the world with Larry during his military service to the country. Mary lived all over the world but never learned to drive. Mary was very active with her church family at Chiques United Methodist. She was part of the apple dumpling gang, nativity service costume seamstress and known for her chocolate peanut butter cake for social time. Mary loved to travel, visiting England, Italy, Canada and Africa just to list a few. Mary loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great friend to many. Mary is survived by two sons: Lawrence K. Dommel husband of Darlene of Leola, and Robert W. Dommel of Mount Joy, two daughters: Donne E. wife of Ronald Prokay of Mount Joy, Carolyn M. wife of Robert W. Andes, III of Lancaster, two sisters: Geraldine L. wife of Timothy Flory of Leola, Deborah A. wife of Robert Waltman of Pottstown, PA, two brothers: Ronald E., of Lancaster, Albert E. of Lancaster, and four grandchildren: Sarah M. Dommel, Laura R. Dommel, Nathaniel R. Andes and Jeremy L. Andes. She was predeceased by two sisters: Dolores Brubaker, Loretta “Peg” G, wife of Kenny McKinney of Quarryville and one brother Jay Edward Hartman. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mary’s Celebration of Life Memorial Service which will be held at Chiques United Methodist Church, 1215 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA 17552 on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Beverly Andrews officiating. The family will receive friends at The Groffs Family Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 528 West Orange Street, (the corner of Orange & Pine Sts.), Lancaster, PA 17603 on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Public viewing will only take place on Sunday at the funeral home, there will be no viewing on Wednesday at church. Private Interment will take place in Riverview Burial Park, Lancaster. If desired, memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be made to Chiques United Methodist Church, 1215 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA 17552.
