MARGARET ARDAN WARDROP

Margaret Ardan Wardrop, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her daughters at Lancaster Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, August 31 after a lengthy illness. Born and raised in Marion Heights, PA, Marge (Maggie) was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Zvoncheck Ardan. She spent her adult life as a resident of Lancaster and retired as a secretary to the plant manager from Armstrong World Industries in 1992. An avid solitary walker for 30 years, she was recognized by many on her brisk daily morning walks through Lancaster’s West End. She was an active and loving participant in the lives of her children, brothers and sisters, granddaughter & great grandchildren, as well as her nieces, nephews and many friends. Her hobbies included sewing, Ukranian crafts, and following her favorite sports teams, the Chicago Bears and New York Yankees. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lancaster. Marge is survived by daughters Janice, companion of Terry McLain of Lancaster; and Bernita, wife of George Stadler, Lewes, DE; granddaughter Kelly Good Salls, wife of Charlie Salls, Spring Hill, FL; great granddaughters Alana and Sienna Salls; brothers Steve Ardan (Gerry) of Trevorton PA, and Juls Ardan (Esther) of Elysburg, PA; sister Jeanne Bergal of Mt Carmel; sister-in-law Rose Zita Ardan of Marion Heights; as well as many nieces and nephews. She will be lovingly missed by the many people whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by brothers John, Joseph, Michael, and Frank Ardan; sisters Evelyn Ardan, Mary (Bressi) & Anna (Politza), and son Gregory Stephen. The family will greet friends at The Groff’s Family Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 528 W. Orange Street (at the corner of Orange & Pine Sts), Lancaster on Saturday, September 3, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 when a Remembrance Ceremony will begin. Following this, the Funeral Service will commence at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Michael E. Messner officiating. Interment will be in St Joseph Catholic Cemetery on Charles Rd, Lancaster.
