Malva Elizabeth Langford

Malva Elizabeth Langford, 74, affectionately known as Miss “Mimi” courageously passed away in her home state of Delaware on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 following a battle back to wellness and independence. Born in Lancaster County, PA, she was the loveable, quick-witted, and humorous daughter of the late Robert Jr. and Elizabeth Henderson. Malva fell between sisters Dietra, Roberta, Fern, and Marcie, and was stepsister to Irene, Ruth, Esther, and Robert Leslie. A Solanco High honors graduate, Mimi easily succeeded in all subjects and participated in various extracurricular activities including exploration of a future career in nursing. Married instead of following school, she raised a family consisting of her most precious accomplishments: Cheryl, Dwayne, Veronica, Michele, and Curt. She also thoroughly enjoyed being Grandmom Mimi to 11 and looked forward to time with her 6 Great-grands. Mimi’s incredible, two-job work ethic remained through her 2019 retirement. Professionally, she at last pursued official certification in nursing, ultimately serving in LPN and RN roles working private duty, hospital shifts, hospice care, and in other treatment settings. Caregiving firmly rooted in her DNA, “Miss Mimi” happily dedicated over 15 of her final years attending to the emotional and medical well-being of at-risk youth via Job Corps of Wilmington. Additionally, she became a certified drug & alcohol counselor and bereavement counselor. Limitlessly loving and super fun at heart, Mimi made herself available to the family and others, including strangers, by way of serving up listening ears, good food, music, and laughter all to keep the party in our hearts going forever. Choose to remember her for what she loved to do most – GIVE – as there will never be another like her. She’ll always be missed by her children and grands; sisters, nieces, and nephews; friends, neighbors, and former colleagues.
