Lisa A. Simms Jenkins

Lisa A. Simms Jenkins, 55, was born in Baltimore, MD at the John Hopkins University Hospital. Lisa was the second child born to the late Karl W. Simms, Sr. and Janelle McCall Simms. Lisa succumbed to her illness and departed this life on the early morning of June 20, 2023, at the Lancaster General Hospital, with family by her side. Lisa was educated in the Lancaster County School System and graduated from Conestoga Valley Senior High School in the Spring of 1987. Upon graduation, Lisa attended the Harrisburg Area Community College - Harrisburg Campus. At the time of death, Lisa had been employed by Fulton Financial Corporation since year 2001, with several promotions from entry-level to the most current position of Commercial Workout Officer. Lisa was baptized at a young age and was a member of the Gillis Memorial Christian Community Church under the leadership of the Rev. Theodore C. Jackson, Jr. She was an active member of the Christian Training Union. At the age of 15, Lisa's Mother's career caused the family to relocate to Lancaster, PA. Early in 1984, the family transferred membership to the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, where Christian growth continued under the late Rev. Robert E. McMorris, until the Lord extended Lisa's religious maturity under the leadership of the Rev. Roland P. Forbes, Jr., Pastor. Lisa enjoyed participation as a member of the Mass Choir, the Praise Team and Youth Leadership. Lisa was called to ministry and thus presented her initial sermon on Sunday, May 4, 2003. Lisa A. Simms Jenkins is a woman of strength and humbleness. She attributes all that she is - to the will of God - and always awaits His continued guidance. Lisa A. Simms Jenkins was preceded in death by an infant son (Togy II); her father, Karl W. Simms, Sr. Baltimore, MD; her maternal and paternal grandparents: Moses and Maggie McCall of Mount Union, Pennsylvania and Joseph and Ada Simms, Baltimore, Maryland respectively, maternal aunt, Dr. Dorothy McCall Mattison (Broadus). Maternal uncles Mamadou Chinyelu, James A. McCall, Esq. and Benjamin M. McCall, and paternal aunt, Shelby Simms. Lisa is survived by her husband, Clifton R. Jenkins, and they celebrated 32 years of marriage on June 8th. Daughter, Jalyssa Janine, son, Joshua James and only grandchild, Amari King. Also, their Goddaughter, Shaolin Gardner. In addition, Lisa leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Janelle McCall Simms and her brother, Karl W. Simms, Jr. (Dorothy) of San Antonio, TX, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, sister-cousins, brother-cousins, other family and friends who celebrate her life. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Lisa’s Funeral Service at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 701 N. Lime Street, Lancaster, PA on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 12 Noon. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
