June Goyne Corotto

June Goyne Corotto died peacefully on April 4th, 2016. Born in Ashland, PA, she was a daughter of the late Lucille (Gramley) and Thomas Stuart Goyne. Her husband, Frank James Corotto, died 21 February 1997. She is survived by her children, Gina Kramer of Easton, Lisa Pignataro of Ephrata, and Frank Stuart Corotto of Dahlonega, Georgia, and by her eight grandchildren, Jonathan Kramer, Sarah Besse Morgan, Jordan Kramer, Laura Deutsch, Nathaniel Kramer, Erin George, Abigail Ketner, and Becca Green. Surviving also are her great grandchildren, Lauren, Evan, Jocelyn, Ryan, Sydney, Caroline, Bella, Jordan, Olivia, Mollie, and Ellie. June was predeceased by her sister, Virginia Merkin, in October of 2010. June was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lancaster. During her lifetime, she had been a Sunday school teacher at the United Church of Christ in Willow Street, a Brownie Scout leader, a Red Cross volunteer at Lancaster General Hospital, and a member of the Lyndon Auxiliary of the Lancaster General Hospital. She helped with the Anchorage program at St. James Episcopal Church for 26 years. She was an ORCA volunteer since 1997. She enjoyed art and was asked by Katherine Hepburn to paint her house in Fenwick, Connecticut, which she did in 1985. June travelled to Cornwall, England, her ancestral home, many times. She also travelled to Ireland, Wales, Greece, the Aegean, France, Israel, and Egypt. She participated in an archeological dig in Israel in 1985 where she made lifelong friends. Her passion was history and prehistory, mainly British, Egyptian, and Biblical, and her family’s history. During her early years, she collected the antiques, documents, portraits, quilts, and toys from the attic of her grandparents’ house, many of which had been there from her great-great-grandparents’ lifetime. She donated most of these items to the Penns Valley Area Museum in Centre County. She enjoyed the idea of these beloved family treasures going home again. June found a life that suited her - work that interested her, houses she loved, good friends, the company of her cats, and most of all, time with her family. Services will be private. June’s preference is for contributions in her name to go to Hospice, ORCA, and Heifer, Int’l.
