Jean R. Rohrer

Jean Rohrer of Lancaster, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 13, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Angie M. Yunginger and Luther W. Rote and the wife of the late Richard P. Rohrer, Jr. Jean graduated from Manheim Township High School in 1953. She was a homemaker for 20 years and in 1976 began working for the National Central Bank as a secretary, retiring ten years later from the Private Banking Department. I n 1989, she and her husband Richard followed their dream and moved to Boothbay Harbor, ME, opening Jonathan’s Bed & Breakfast. Jonathan’s was open for 11 years, welcoming guests from around the world. Jean’s love of Maine kept her there for 24 years. Jean loved gardening, cooking, entertaining, music, college and NFL football, needlepoint and boating in Maine. She loved her family and friends, taking them sightseeing when they visited. Jean was very involved in St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Boothbay. She sang in the choir, served on many committees, and played an active role when the church was built after previously meeting in parishioners’ homes. Jean was a past member of the Junior League of Lancaster and a Red Cross volunteer for Lancaster General Hospital. She is survived by her daughters, Sue Schumann and her husband, Jay Schumann and child Cayli, Anne Wineholt and her husband, David, and children Natalie, and Marshall; stepdaughter, Virginia Rohrer, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, David Marshall Wilson, Jr., and her husband, Richard P. Rohrer, Jr., and siblings, Esther R. Myers (Paul), Luther W. Rote, Jr. (Lola), Ruth E. Crist (Layton), Robert D. Rote, Levern M. Rote, Betty L. Strine (Robert) and Doris L. Perrine. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Christian Funeral and Celebration of Jean’s life at St. James Episcopal Church, 119 N. Duke Street, Lancaster PA on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Father David W. Peck officiating. Visitation prior to the service will be from 10:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association 1300 Wilson Blvd., Suite 600, Arlington VA 2209 (donate.als.org), in memory of David M.
