James Michael Llanso

James Michael Llanso, 63, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Joanne (Wells) McWherter and the late Martin Paul Llanso . Jim is survived by his wife, Florence (Lawless) Llanso, his daughter Katelynn Shearer and son, Daniel Llanso and his beloved grandson Brenner James Shearer. Jim graduated from Manheim Township and studied abroad at the American School of Madrid, Spain before attending Millersville University. A car man his entire professional life, Jim held every position in the car sales business. He worked for Red Rose Buick, Keim Pre-owned and Keller Bros. Jim was a devout Eagles fan and loved to play golf. As an excellent grill master, Jim loved steak as much as Paris’ strawberry shortcake and Jodie’s carbonara. Travelling to warm vacation spots and time spent at Dewey beach were his joys. Jim faced life with courage and a generous heart, a delightful wit and a contagious giggle. Jim was a kind loving man who was always there for his family and friends. He loved his grandson Brenner and faithfully attended his son-in-law Jared Shearer’s football games. Children were naturally drawn to him. No one possessed a stronger moral compass than Jim. Those who additionally remain to honor his memory include his four sisters: Hope Bedway, Deborah Berta, Dianne Eddler and Joanna Gleason, his sister-in-law Paris Llanso. Others include stepchildren Anthony Antonich, Madeline Piermatteo and Paige Hebbard, stepmother Carmen A. Llanso and loving stepsisters: Ada, Lilia, Diana and Caixa Figueroa. Friends and family are invited to Jim’s Celebration of Life on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the Groff Family Funeral Home, 528 West Orange Street, Lancaster. A Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Please join the family after the service for Jim’s favorite dessert.
