Harold L. Kautz

Harold L. Kautz, 95, of High Street, East Petersburg, PA, passed away peacefully at Conestoga View on Monday, May 30, 2016. Born in Sterling, IL, he was the husband of Esther Stevens Kautz, and the late Edna Walters Kautz who passed away on January 7, 1974. He was the son of the late Bernard and Laura LeFever Kautz. Harold began his career as a milkman, delivering for several dairies and also worked on a celery farm during the war to help with the food supply for soldiers. He also worked for Town Talk Bread which is now known as Holsum Bread, and worked as a mechanic for several dealerships including the Chrysler/Dodge dealership, Garden Spot Motor Company, and retired from Mike’s Radiator in the parts department. He had a passion for working on cars. He was a former member of Mellinger’s Mennonite Church, East Chestnut Street Mennonite Church, and Grace United Methodist Church in Hummelstown. In addition to his wife, Esther, he is survived by three children, Nancy Jane, wife of Roger L. Howard, East Petersburg, PA, David L., husband of Nancy Kautz, Mountain View, Arkansas, Norma Jean, companion of Raymond L. Clare, Lancaster, Harold E. Kautz, companion of Janet Shuyler, Conestoga, PA and a brother, Donald L., husband of Lois Kautz, Lancaster, PA. He has 17 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Earl W. Kautz, three sisters, Grace Landis, Mary Fromm, and Helen Kennedy, two brothers, Melvin and Bernard Kautz, a grandson, Ronald K. Howard, and a great great grandson, Roman Jimenz. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Harold’s Funeral Service from the Funeral Home of Fred F. Groff, Inc., 234 West Orange Street, Lancaster, PA on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Leon Oberholtzer officiating. Interment will be held at Graybill’s Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Fred F. Groff, Inc. on Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. from until time of service.
