Earle S Thall

Earle S. Thall, 90, died on July 29, 2010, at Moravian Manor in Lititz. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, he was the son of the late Henry and Selena Yerettsky Rosenthal. Earle was married for 64 years to Edith Borins Thall, of Leola. The Thalls resided in Warwick Township for the last 35 years. Earle received his baccalaureate and masters degrees in metallurgy from the University of Toronto. A professional engineer, Earle, was involved in aircraft manufacturing during World War II and worked for the Ontario Research Foundation in the early post war years. The family moved to the United States when Earle joined RCA where he worked on the manufacture and development of electronic devices for microwave, satellite and television communications. Mr. Thall received RCA's inventor award in recognition of his many patents.Throughout his life Earle was active in community activities holding various offices in his congregation's brotherhood. He also freely leant his assistance to community projects where his expertise was helpful. After retiring, Earle and Edith traveled extensively. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Richard M. Thall, husband of June, of Stowe, Mass., and Dr. Edmond H. Thall, husband of Mary Jean, of Highland Heights, Ohio; and daughter Yvonne P. Stein, wife of Barry, of Pittsburgh. He is also survived by his sister Joyce Lieberman and sister-in-law Eleanor Thall, both of Toronto, and grandchildren Aaron and Jason Thall and Evan, Brian and David Stein. He was preceded in death by his brothers Harold and Burnett Thall. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at Congregation Shaarai Shomayim, 75 E. James St., Lancaster, with Rabbi Jack Paskoff officiating. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will take place in Shaarai Shomayim Cemetery.
