David Anthony Miles

David Anthony Miles, 70, of Lancaster passed away in his sleep at home on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 his Independence Day. Born in Lancaster, PA he was the son of the late Allen E. and Dorothy Flick Miles and husband of Sandra Wilson Miles with whom he celebrated twenty-nine years of marriage. David was diagnosed in January 2017 with Esophageal Cancer that spread to his liver during his long battle. He is now with his savior Jesus Christ who he believed in his heart died for us so that we may live. Throughout his life David worked in various foundries and restaurants. For the past twelve years he was employed at Bob Evans and was known at the “Singing Buser”. David enjoyed coin collecting, getting to know various coin dealers and building relationships. Some of his hobbies include watching reruns of Gunsmoke and the Andy Griffith Show. David dined in various restaurants and loved having the family over for cookouts. His yard with all the different trees and shrubs consumed many pleasurable hours. George Jones was his favorite country music artist which he had seen in concert a few times. A favorite happening in his life was going back to Detroit, Michigan in 1965. David actually hitchhiked to Michigan, he had many stories about the kindness of truck drivers helping him and his bout with pneumonia which almost cased his death as it was still cold when he set out on his adventure. He met the first love of his life in Detroit, Christine, and spent a few years with her. They enjoyed travels to Canada and Belle Isle in Detroit, going to visit friends in Kentucky. He often reflected back to those times and loved to tell stories. David was very happy that he and his wife Sandra got to go back to Detroit two years in a row and had a wonderful time. In addition to his wife Sandra he is survived by his three daughters, Rebecca wife of Larry Milburn, Connie and Paula Miles, two step children Richard Winger and Melinda wife of Andre Ortiz, twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren Giselle and Gracen. Also surviving are two brothers Ronald Miles of York, PA, Allen Miles of North Carolina, and several nephews. David was predeceased by his first wife SueEllen, a brother Bill Miles and a sister Constance Zink. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend David’s Celebration of Life Funeral Service at The Groffs Family Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 528 West Orange Street, (corner of W. Orange & Pine Sts.), Lancaster, PA 17603 on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dana E. Statler officiating. The family will receive friends at The Groffs from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be held in Conestoga Memorial Park.
