Darryl S. McComsey

My name was Darryl, but you can call me "Mac". No, I don't have another brother named Darryl. Actually, my brother's name is David. I have a sister too; her name is Pam. I was born on June 29th 1961 to Dorothy J. (Hagel) and Wayne L. McComsey. I was the youngest of three children and I grew up in Lancaster County, PA. I made lots of friends growing up, I had a lot of fun, I worked hard, I loved deeply. I had to struggle at times... it wasn't easy but I did it. I graduated from Conestoga Valley High School and completed my vocational training to be a welder at Brownstown. Welding and Steel Fabrication became my livelihood. I was employed by Goodhart Sons, Inc. after high school and worked there for 15 years. Later I would join the team at Herr Industrial, Inc. to be their Shipping and Receiving Manager, but enough about work... I loved to be outside. I loved the outdoors and everything that came with it. I loved to hunt, fish, and trap. There was just something about waking up when it was still dark, going up to the mountains, and watching the sun's first rays hit the trees. I remember how the sun moved over the valley, how it reflected my breath in the cold air, and how the light came through the trees like a kaleidoscope, creating shapes with light and shadow. I'll always have those memories with me. I have a son and I am incredibly proud of him. In fact, he was the best part of me. His name is Chad Joseph and I raised him to be a better man than I was. I wanted Chad to have all the advantages that I didn't have growing up. I wanted him to learn from my mishaps and mistakes along the way. I did my best to be honest and to make sure he knew how much I loved him. My daughter-in-law, Maria, thinks I did a great job raising him and she made sure I knew it too. My greatest joy was to see my son become a man and know that he found happiness and love. I leave behind a lot of family and friends that I couldn't say goodbye to... It was a tough decision to make; I didn't mean for it to happen this way. But I wanted you all to know that I'm taking the love you have shared with me on this, my final journey home. I heard one time that when you get to where I'm heading, that you are reunited with everyone you've ever loved, past, present, and future... that there is no such thing as "time" as I knew it on Earth. Take comfort in knowing that we're all together again somewhere and that I'll always remember the love and good times we shared. Thanks for being a part of my story. There will be a private service held for family on Saturday, October 7th, 2017. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, October 8th, 2017 in Stevens, PA.
