Samuel David "Dave" Forker

Samuel David “Dave” Forker, 77, of Lancaster, PA formerly of New York, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Evergreen Estates. He fought a relentless battle with numerous health issues. Born in Meadville, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel W. and Mary Margaret (Weaver) Forker. His much beloved wife, Virginia L. “Ginny” Forker passed away just 26 days ahead of him on May 4, 2019. They would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on June 20th. Dave served in the US Navy and worked a long career as a sales rep for a handful of companies. He was very proud of his military service and looked fondly on his Navy years. His time in the Navy brought him many friends, memories and experiences the most important of which was the chance meeting with the love of his life, Ginny. Dave was passionate about many things. He loved technology, was always up on current events, enjoyed a wide variety of music and movies, could talk to anyone about absolutely anything and was always happy to see potato salad and banana cream pie on the menu. As was the case with his other half, Ginny, the thing that brought him the most joy was his family. He was intensely interested in what all of us were doing and was behind us whatever it happened to be, always. His love and support are something that was always evident and will be missed endlessly. Surviving are his children, Kathleen L., married to Rick D. Rye of Columbia, PA and Samuel D. Forker, Jr. married to Aileen M. Forker of Lewes, DE; his grandchildren, Chloe N. Rye and Bailey D. Rye; his sister, Marilyn married to Charles McCarthy of Buffalo, NY; brother-in-law, Joseph married to Judy Patterson of Springfield, IL; a niece, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial from St. Anthony of Padua Church, 503 E. Orange Street, Lancaster, PA 17602 on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Allan Wolfe Celebrant. The family will receive friends at The Groffs Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 528 W. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17603 (corner of W. Orange & Pine Sts.) on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until time of departure for church. Military honors will be rendered by Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard at The Groffs on Friday at 12:00 p.m. Private burial will be in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
