Sally Larkin Kryder

Sally Larkin Kryder, 91, died peacefully at her home in Lititz, PA with her family by her side on January 24, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Harry Hubbard Larkin and Ruth Williams Larkin. Her husband of 68 years, The Rev. Edward Hemington Kryder, preceded her in death in 2011. Sally was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. She attended The Buffalo Seminary, graduating in 1941, after which she attended Wheelock College in Boston until her marriage in 1943 to Edward. Throughout her life she was a happy, fun-loving, giving person who dedicated herself to helping her family and others, never shying away from any difficulties life presented. She defined the role of clergy wife with grace and poise, supporting her husband and their work together, helping others in a quiet way. She was loved by an extended community in the various places she lived, serving as a Hospice volunteer, Buffalo General Hospital and Children’s Hospital volunteer, Mount Vernon, VA Hospital volunteer, and Meals on Wheels volunteer. She was a founder of Corner House Nursery School at Calvary Church, Williamsville, NY. She worked at Paul Springs Retirement Community in Alexandria, VA from 1986-2003. She and Edward retired to Luther Acres in Lititz, PA in 2003. Sally is survived by her five children: Katrina Kryder Ford, David Larkin Kryder (Joy Kryder), Thomas Marshall Kryder-Reid (Elizabeth Kryder-Reid), John Benson Kryder (Dori Marshall), and Anne Kryder Almy-Webber (Benton Webber); thirteen grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a grandson, Robert H. Ford, and her two brothers, Harry H. Larkin, Jr. and Daniel I. Larkin. A memorial service and interment will take place for family and friends at Calvary Episcopal Church, Williamsville, NY on February 28th at 4 pm.
