Regine Kolleck Ibold

Regine Kolleck Ibold, 77, of Lancaster, died at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy on Sunday, December 23, 2018. The cause of death was ovarian cancer. She was the wife of Robert A. Ibold, to whom she was married for 56 years. Regine owned and operated a coffee, spice and snack stand at Lancaster Central Market for 30 years. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother to three sons and dog owner. Born in Dresden, Germany in 1941, Regine immigrated to the United States with her father, Hannes Kolleck, and her mother, Irmgard Kolleck. The Kollecks first settled in the Over the Rhine neighborhood in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio in 1951, where Regine embraced the culture around her, especially the public schools she attended. A word-oriented language lover, she pursued an undergraduate degree in classics at the University of Cincinnati. There, she met Bob, an aspiring artist, and the two married in 1962. The couple moved to Lancaster city in 1965. Regine was passionate about food. She loved to shop for ingredients at places like Mandros Imported Foods and the Corn Wagon, and she cooked nearly every day for her family and close friends. Regine took solace in her regular fitness walks. After being diagnosed with cancer two years ago, she walked nearly every day in Lancaster County Park, an outing that gave her hope, energy and spiritual fulfillment. These park walks were her favorite times to call her children. In addition to her husband, Bob, Regine is survived her three sons, Mark, married to Victoria, parents to William, of New York, NY; Jay, married to Amrita, parents to Sam, of Friday Harbor, WA; and Hans, married to Amy, parents to Willa and Ida, of Portland, OR. She is also survived by her father, Hannes, 101, Cincinnati, OH and her step brother, Axel Wegener, Munich, Germany. Friends are invited to a memorial at the Rock Ford Plantation’s historic barn in Lancaster County Park on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Regine’s memory to the Ann B.
