Patricia Pollard Schroeder

Patricia McKay Pollard Schroeder, 63, of Lancaster passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late John Scott and Elizabeth McKay Pollard of Fayetteville, North Carolina and was married to Frederick N. Schroeder with whom she would have celebrated 23 years of marriage this November. Pat was a graduate of St. Mary’s College in Raleigh, NC and Pan American Business School in Richmond, Va. She made her debut at the Terpsichorean Club of North Carolina in 1970. Pat began her business career at Hunton & Williams law firm in Richmond, Va. She moved to New York where she was an administrative assistant for the US Tennis Association. After moving to Lancaster, she worked with ISC, Intelligencer Printing and the Lancaster County Conservancy. Pat was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Lancaster, the Junior League of Lancaster, the Lancaster Country Club, and the Lancaster Conservancy. She was a board member of James Buchanan Wheatland, and volunteered countless hours for the Fulton Theater, Tanger Arboretum, Women’s and Babies Hospital, and The Lancaster Assembly. She had a great sense of adventure and travelled extensively to many locations including the Amazon River Basin, the Galapagos and our country’s National Parks. Birding, needlepoint, art collecting, decorating, flower arranging, entertaining and cooking for her family and friends were just a few of her favorite pastimes. Pat had a delightful sense of humor and displayed it often to the joy of her family and friends. She also enjoyed singing and spending time at the shore in Avalon, New Jersey. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her stepson, Frederick “Fritz” N., Jr., husband of Mary Schroeder, of Millersville, PA, three sisters, Ibby Connell and husband Jim of Raleigh, NC, Ann Leonard and husband Jim, of Lancaster, PA, Coco Davis, and husband J.B., of Raleigh, NC, a brother, Scott Pollard of Raleigh, NC, one step-grandson, Ezra Schroeder, eight nieces and nephews and eight great nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Patricia’s Memorial Service on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at St. James Episcopal Church, 119 N. Duke Street, Lancaster, PA at 11:00 a.m., with The Reverend David W. Peck officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in St. James Episcopal Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Patricia’s name may be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 119 N. Duke Street, Lancaster, PA 17603, James Buchanan’s Wheatland at LancasterHistory.org, the Wetland Institute, Stone Harbor, NJ or a charity of your choice.
