Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Nelson Eugene Herr, 64, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at Moravian Manor, Lititz. Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Kathryn H. Rohrer Herr and C. Mylin Herr. Nelson graduated from JP McCaskey High School Class of '64. He and his wife, Susan Diane Dellinger Herr, celebrated their 26th anniversary in May. Nelson worked in the health care industry as a Lab Technician for 41 years at Lancaster Regional Medical Center. Prior to that he spent 2 years in voluntary service at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. As an outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed taking walks in nature, gardening and supporting a bird habitat in his backyard. He was an avid book reader of Philosophy, Religion and Music; a classical music aficionado, and also enjoyed fine arts and crafts. He was a volunteer for the Demuth Garden Tour and was a former member of the Musser Park Civic Association. Nelson always shared his quick wit and humor with his friends and family. In addition to his wife he is survived by his sister, Doris Myers wife of James, of Akron, his mother-in-law Alberta B. Attick, of Elizabethtown, and his sisters-in-law Linda Parkin, wife of William S. Parkin III, of Harrisburg, and Veronica Woodside-Herr, of Exton. Additionally, he is survived by his uncles Elmer Rohrer, husband of Ruth; Paul Rohrer, husband of Edith; and Robert Rohrer, husband of Lorraine; a niece, Kathleen Sechler; and five nephews: William IV and Bryan Parkin, Kevin and Dr. Mark Etter and Christopher Herr; seven great-nieces and one great-nephew. Nelson was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Herr and his brother, James Herr. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Nelson's Celebration of Life Memorial Service on Friday August 20, 2010 at 11:00am at St. James Episcopal Church, 119 N. Duke St., Lancaster with the Rev Lynn Hade officiating. The family will greet friends at the church from 10:00am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Manheim Township Library, 2121 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601; or Music for Gretna Classical Series, Gretna Music, 1 Alpha Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022; or Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, P.O.
