James Brokaw Sabino

James Brokaw Sabino, 88, of Willow Valley, PA, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Hospice of Mount Joy inpatient unit. Born in Manhattan, New York, he was the son of the late Joseph Sabino and Gladys Brokaw Sabino. Jim shared 60 loving years of marriage with his devoted wife, Katharina “Kathi” Sabino. He graduated from Rutgers University with a BS in Industrial Engineering and a BA in Fine Arts, then went on to get his MBA at Temple University. In the late 1960s, Jim played a key role in the early development of information systems at Armstrong World Industries, where he eventually retired as Director of Information Systems. A faithful member of St. James Episcopal Church, there he served on the Vestry. He was also elected twice to Residents’ Council at Willow Valley. His commitment to service extended throughout the community through his involvement as the President of the Northeast Rotary Club, a member of the Lancaster Pirates, and SCORE, where he served as Councilor and Board Chair. Jim was a former member of both the Lancaster Country Club and The Hamilton Club, and the Society for Information Management. He proudly served as a Cub Scout leader for Troop 99. Jim found great joy in golfing at Lancaster Country Club, duckpin bowling at The Hamilton Club, traveling, and boating on the Chesapeake Bay. His love of boating led him to be the Commander of the United States Power Squadron, Lancaster Chapter. In addition to his wife, Kathi, Jim is survived by his son, Victor Marti Sabino, and his wife, Ellen, of Las Vegas, Nevada; his daughter-in-law, Christine Sabino, of Raleigh, North Carolina; and his cherished grandchildren, Evan Sabino, Isabella Sabino, and Piotr Sabino. He was preceded in death by his son, Philip James Sabino. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, 119 North Duke Street, Lancaster, PA 17602, on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with Father David W. Peck presiding. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will immediately follow at St. James Historic Graveyard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in James’s honor to St. James Episcopal Church or the Willow Valley Communities Charitable Foundation; please note endowment, 100 Willow Valley Lakes Drive, Willow Street, PA.
