Diana Maria Rodriguez- Maisonet

Diana Maria Rodriguez-Maisonet, 58, passed away on Wednesday July 5, 2023, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, New York. She was the daughter of the late Rey Rodriguez and Maria J. Rivera. She resided at Umbrella Works for over 10 years after moving to Lancaster from New York, she also lived a few years in Puerto Rico. Diana worked as a Paralegal, and a CNA before her health conditions started to consume a lot of her time by having to attend Dialysis, during the last 19 years of her life. As she could no longer work a regular schedule, she took it upon herself to help those in the community with their basic citizen needs, as well as helping many with their immigration paperwork. Diana left an enormous void within her community, those around her, and especially in her children’s life. She enjoyed shows at the Fulton Opera House, movies, and soap operas. She loved listening to music, some of her favorites included merengue, Whitney Houston, 70’s-80’s, the “Be Gees” from Saturday night fever, the soundtrack of Grease, and salsa, especially La India. Diana loved Hispanic food, some of her favorites were eggs and white rice, plantains, bistec, tuna fish salad, fried chicken from “El Rincon Ponceño”, McDonald’s coffee, and to please her sweet tooth or “Toofees” as she called them, she loved cheesecake. She lit up any room she walked into, a character, very funny, amicable, helpful, she was able to make friends everywhere, she was the light of the party. Diana was loved by many people. You could find her anywhere on her scooter, downtown, shopping at the mall, at casinos, at bingo with her daughter-in-law Andrea, but most importantly she loved spending time with her kids. She was both a mother and father figure to both her children. She never shied away from showing them off and expressing how proud she was of their accomplishments. She was their saint. Diana is survived by her daughter Lisa Marie Michelle Maisonet, her son Michael Gabriel Maisonet and his fiancé Andrea, her sister Antonia Rodriguez, her brother Reinaldo Rodriguez, and her Betta Fish Charlie. In addition to her husband of 20 years, Diana is preceded in death by both her parents and her sister Aixa Molina. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Diana’s Funeral Service at The Groffs Family Funeral Home, 528 West Orange St. Lancaster, PA. on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A viewing will take place on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Interment will be held at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
