David L. Steele

David L. Steele, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Homestead Village. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the husband of Mary Page Woodward Steele, recently celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary on September 9th. He was the son of the late Logan Harvey and Mildred Bowman Steele. Formerly of Hamilton Road, Lancaster, PA, Dave graduated from Shadyside Academy in Pittsburgh, Franklin & Marshall College in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, postgraduate from Penn State University Park in 1962. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. Dave served as a former board member for Lancaster Country Day School and was the former president of the Citizens Scholarship Foundation. He was the past president of the Lancaster County Estate Planning Council and the Berks County Estate Planning Council. He was also a member of the Lancaster Symphony Chorus, the Lancaster Country Club, and the Pirates Club. He loved to golf, ski, and play bridge and was an avid reader. As a Pittsburgh native, he was a fan of the Steelers and the Pirates. Dave had a passion for banking and started with Farmers Bank and Trust. He was the former vice president and regional trust coordinator of Hamilton Bank. The last few years of his career were spent as the Head of Trust Department for Jonestown Bank and Trust. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Mary Page, and daughter, Elizabeth Page “Liza” Steele Kenyon, wife of David Jon Kenyon, Lancaster, PA, and one granddaughter, Margaret Morris Campbell of Philadelphia, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at St. James Episcopal Church, 119 N. Duke Street, Lancaster, PA, on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with The Rev. David Peck officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in the Memorial Garden of St. James.
