David Munyui Maina

On July 27, 2017 the gates of heaven opened and the Lord received David Munyui Maina into his kingdom. David Maina was born on August 7, 1954, the son of the late John Maina Nyamu and Esther Wambui Maina. David received his formal education in Nairobi, Kenya. In 1974, he came to the United States to attend Millersville State College now Millersville University. On his first day of college he met and later married the love of his life Gail Dunn Maina. From this union two sons were born. They were happily married for over 40 years. David became a faithful member of the Bright Side Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Reverend Dr. Louis A. Butcher Jr. He was a diligent worker serving on the Trustee Board, Chairman of the Security Ministry, and a member of the Deacon Board which he also served six years as the Chairman. Even when his health started to decline, David continued to serve the Lord by, visiting the sick and shut-in and doing electrical projects for the church. One of his favorite projects was setting up all electrical functions for the Bright Side Opportunities Center Summer Fest. David, a master electrician, worked for Arcelor Mittal Company for the past twenty years. He loved his job and was an industrious worker. David, a God fearing man, always had a smile on his face, a pleasant spirit, and a kind word to say. Surviving and cherishing the loving memories of Deacon David Munyui Maina are his devoted wife, Gail Dunn Maina, two sons, Michael A. Maina, (Abby) of Manheim, PA, John Maurice Maina, (Kelly) of Ronks,PA; three grandsons, Andre Munyui, Aiden Michael of Manheim, PA, and Devon Michael Munyui of Ronks, PA; two granddaughters Adrianna of Manhiem, PA, and Elyse Marie of Ronks, PA; a special niece, Elaine Wambui of Nairboi, Kenya; one brother in-law, Marland Dunn Jr. and one sister in-law, Dr. Yolanda Marie Dunn both of Thorndale, Pennsylvania; one sister, Jane Wairimu Okumu of Uganda and one brother, Alexander Kariuki Maina of Nairobi, Kenya and many nephews, nieces, other relatives, a host of friends, and the Bright Side Baptist Church family. Preceding his death are two brothers: Peter Nyamu, William Nyamu Maina, two sisters: Gloria Njoki, and Claire Wanjiku Maina.
