D. Audrey Kelley

D. Audrey Kelley, 89, a lifetime resident of Lancaster on E. Ross Street, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 22, 2018, after a brief stay at Hospice & Community Care. Born in Lancaster, PA, she was the widow of Thomas B. Kelley, Jr., who passed away on September 4, 2009. She was the daughter of the late James and Catherine Dommel Rittenhouse. A 1947 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School and a graduate of Empire Cosmetology School, Audrey worked as a Beautician for a former salon located on King Street, and the Beauty Salon at Lancaster General Hospital. She then worked for Penn State Extension with nutrition, helping families work with menus on a fixed income. An active member of Ross Street United Methodist Church, she enjoyed all of the various activities of the church. She also enjoyed water aerobics at the YMCA, card club, all types of outings, current events, puzzles, Sudoku, traveling and staying at many places from Vermont to Florida. Jeopardy was one of her favorite shows to watch. She will be remembered as a good Mom, attending her children’s activities, and loving every minute of their upbringing. She is survived by four children, Randy C., companion of Roxanne Wilson, Lancaster, Sherrie L. Kelley, Lancaster, Cathie J. Kelley, wife of Brian S. Musser, Marietta, and Thomas S., husband of Janet Benner, Conestoga, PA, and her daughter-in-law, Kim M. Long, Lititz, PA. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Ryan, Austin, fiancé of Carolyn, Alexandra, Olivia, Missy, wife of Rich Campbell, Shawn, husband of Beth Benner, Amanda, daughter of her late son, Robert R. Long, Jr., who passed away in 2015, and four great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Audrey’s Funeral Service at The Groff Family Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 528 W. Orange Street, (corner of W. Orange & Pine Sts.) Lancaster, PA on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with The Rev. Michael Sigman officiating. Interment in Riverview Burial Park. The family will receive friends at The Groffs on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be sent in her memory to the Susquehanna Association for the Blind, 244 N. Queen St., Lancaster, PA 17603.
