Clyde W. Wenger

Clyde W. Wenger, 90, of Lancaster, PA, was born at home in Bareville, PA to his parents, the late Amon G. and Esther V. (Zuck) Wenger. He married Shirley M. (Hauck) Wenger on June 18, 1955, together they enjoyed 68 years of married life. He was a registered plumber for over 55 years. For 20 of those years, he was employed by the Frey-Lutz Corporation. Clyde was a charter member of the Lampeter Church of the Brethren, where he had also served as a deacon, head usher and was involved in all building projects over the past years at the church. He was also an associate member of Lancaster Church of the Brethren. He taught evening plumbing classes at the Brownstown Career & Technical Center, was a member of the Bareville Burial Association, a former trustee of the Monterey Burial Association, a former leader of the Leola Explorer Post 54 Boys Scouts of America and coached Little League baseball in Leola. In his spare time, Clyde enjoyed woodworking in his shop at home, collecting model tractors, baseball-type caps/hats, and making bird feeders. He also took great joy in his accomplishments in gardening, and growing flowers and vegetables. Clyde enjoyed watching the birds and butterflies in his backyard as he assembled countless thousand-piece puzzles. Clyde was preceded in death by his three sons who died early in their lives, Bruce E. Wenger (1980), Mark E. Wenger (1983), Larry J. Wenger (2005); his brother Earl Wenger and sisters Ruth Kreider and Floy Baker. Clyde is also survived by Ron Peters (Karen Peters) who are like a son and daughter to Clyde and Shirley; his grandson Neil A. Anderson; his brothers, Lloyd G. Wenger (Wilma Espenshade); Jay V. Wenger (Leah Achenbach), a sister Elaine Giorgio (Tom Giorgio); his sister-in-law, Nancy Wenger; his daughter-in-law, Betsy Anderson (Doug Anderson); and his close friends John Shultz, Amy Shultz, and their children, Austin, Abigail, and Adam. A Celebration of Life will be held at Lancaster Church of the Brethren, 1601 Sunset Ave., Lancaster, PA 17601, on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Friends are welcome to greet the family following the service. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Bareville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Bareville Cemetery Association and The American Heart Association.
