Caroline “Lynn” (Hillery) Cameron, 62, departed this life on Thursday, August 13, 2015 after a long battle with cancer at Hospice & Community Care, Mt. Joy. She was born in Lancaster, PA, to the late John D. and Hattie G. Smith Hillery. Lynn grew up in Lancaster and graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School. She began her career at Skyrsville Girl’s Shelter in Maryland, worked as a Unit Supervisor at The Terraces in Ephrata, PA and was a part-time staff member at Arcadia. Lynn had a beautiful singing voice and sang on the church choir and enjoyed listening to gospel music. She was a collector, treasured her collection of elephants from various places, loved taking her dog (Buster) to the dog park and going to the beach and traveling to the wonderful island of the Bahamas with family and friends. Lynn was especially happy when in the company of her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. We will miss her laughter and her style. Family and friends near and far will carry her memory and honor her life in deed and prayer. Whenever we come together to celebrate we’ll be comforted in knowing Caroline had powerful faith an indomitable will and the strength that only a mother can marshal through love and sacrifice for her family. Survived by companion James Johnson, Son, Bryan, grandchildren: Brianna and Tyler Williams, great grandchildren: Simone and Sahmarea Willliams, Sisters: Lisa Garrett and Lori Crummel, brother, John Hillery, nieces: Jenaya, Erica, Ryan, nephews: David and Jordan and a host of great nieces and nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Lynn will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at The Groffs Family Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 528 West Orange Street, (corner of Orange and Pine Sts.), Lancaster, PA with the Reverend Caschandra-Tyler-Jones officiating. The family will greet friends island style from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lynn’s memory can be made to Ann B.
