Beverly McCann

Beverly McCann, 77, of Lancaster, PA, died January 13, 2011 at Lancaster General Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Born in Orbisonia, PA she was the daughter of the late Everett C. Brown and Mary Hamilton Brown English. Beverly graduated from Tyrone High School in 1950 and the Phillipsburg School of Nursing in 1953. Beverly worked as an ICU nurse at Hanover Hospital and Lancaster General Hospital. She was married to William D. McCann for 31 years. Beverly was a member of Lancaster Country Club where she bowled with the women’s Duck Pin League. She enjoyed all country club events especially those that involved her grandchildren. Beverly had a great sense of style and enjoyed shopping and home decorating. She loved playing board games, watching game shows and was an avid reader. Beverly traveled extensively with her husband and particularly enjoyed the beautiful landscapes of Ireland. She was a strong supporter of Hospice of Lancaster County’s Labor Day Auction. Her family was her number one priority, and she always loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her husband at home, she is survived by four daughters and a son. Daughter Karen, wife of Mike Chiodo of Strasburg, PA, parents of Emily, Sarah and Michael. Daughter Elizabeth McCann of Yakima, WA, parent of Georgia and Ava Gempler. Daughter Margaret McCann, wife of Vincent Strout of Westfield, NJ, parents of Fiona and Gillian Strout. Daughter Susan McCann, fiancée of Ron Nese of Burlington, CT. Son George P. McCann II, husband of Allie of Half Moon Bay, CA, parents of Leela and Adalie. Also surviving is sister Dorcas DiSalvo of Levittown, PA. She was predeceased by brother Wayne Brown and sister Audrey Stinson. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to celebrate Beverly’s life at 2pm on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Lancaster Country Club, 1466 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. The family will greet friends from 1pm until the time of the service. Private family interment.
