Barry C. Kriner

Barry C. Kriner, 70, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 3, 2017, at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Columbia, PA, he was the loving husband of Marlane Henly Kriner and they would be celebrating their 11th anniversary on October 7, 2017. Barry’s first wife, Gloria Mattern Kriner passed away in 2004. He is the son of the late Charles E. and Ruth M. Bachman Kriner. Barry graduated from Franklin and Marshall College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He was an active member of his church, St. Leo The Great Catholic Church, where he served as a catechist. He taught 6th graders at the Parish School of Religion. He served on the RCIA team and as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Barry worked for Armstrong World Industries where he retired as an Industrial Relations Manager. He loved golf, traveling, walking the rail trails with his wife and 2 dogs, Baci and Zoey. Family vacations at the beach were the highlight of summer. He was an avid Phillies fan, attending many games. He proudly served his country for six years in the Navy on the USS Columbus from 1966-1972. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Todd, husband of Kara Kriner, Lancaster, PA, Matthew, husband of Hillary Kriner, Townsend, DE, step daughter, Kathleen, wife of T. Sean Moyer, Mt. Joy, PA; three granddaughters, Ember, Jacksyn, and McKenna Kriner, and step granddaughter, Caroline Winkle; four sisters, Bonnie Cornelius, Gina Clinton, Sherry Filizzi, and Kim Hiemenz, all of Columbia, PA. He is also survived by five nieces and three nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Barry’s Memorial Mass at St. Leo The Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601 on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Peter Hahn Celebrant. Final commendation and farewell will follow the Mass at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the Church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass.
