Barry L. Floyd

Barry L. Floyd, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2026. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late James A. Floyd Sr. and Anna M. Sest Floyd. He was a hardworking and dedicated man who spent more than 40 years as a professional truck driver. Throughout his career, Barry traveled extensively, mostly up and down the East Coast. The open road became a significant part of his life, and he took pride in the work he did. Barry was a proud member of the Teamsters and spent many years behind the wheel. He also provided transportation for members of the Amish community, developing many connections and friendships throughout his years of driving. When he wasn't working, Barry enjoyed spending time on the water. He loved boating and fishing and could often be found enjoying the outdoors. He also had a love of old cars, especially Mustangs. Barry also enjoyed listening to country music and classic rock. He also loved spending time at several local diners and restaurants where he enjoyed having his coffee and chatting. He had a simple habit that those closest to him will remember with a smile: he was perfectly happy eating his leftover diner food right out of the takeout box and always had a cup of coffee close by. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the road, boating and fishing, his appreciation for good music, and the many people he met and helped throughout his life. Barry is survived by his daughter, Linda A. Geiter, wife of Raymond; his brothers, James A. Floyd Jr, and Richard L. Floyd and his wife, Arlene; his grandchildren, Eric J. Floyd, Kimberly N. Jones, and Jennifer A. Jones; and his great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Damion, Kyla, Matthew, Emily, and Nathan and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Barry was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Draven, and sister-in-law, Tina Floyd, wife of James. Barry will be lovingly remembered by his family, friends, fellow Teamsters, and all those whose lives he touched throughout his years. Family and friends are invited to attend Barry's Funeral Service at The Groffs Family Funeral Home, 528 W. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17603 on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. A Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
