Annette McLaury Kline

Annette McLaury Kline, 83, died peacefully in her home in Manheim, PA, Monday, November 14, 2016, surrounded by her family. Ann was born April 29, 1933, in Peoria, IL, and was adopted as an infant, the only beloved child of Herbert and Bernice McLaury of Downers Grove, IL. Later the family lived in Ashton, MD, and she attended Sherwood High School and the University of Maryland in College Park, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority and where she met her husband, Bill. The two were married on June 18, 1955, and raised four children in Rockville, MD; then moved to Seabrook Island, SC, in 1991; and settled in Manheim, PA, 11 years ago. For more than 20 years, Ann was the office manager of a medical practice in Silver Spring, MD, and while in South Carolina, the avid cross-stitcher was a co-owner of the Needle Nook, a needle arts shop in historic downtown Charleston, which she operated for over 6 years. In 2002, Ann was a founding member of the Charleston Sampler Guild, an organization dedicated to preserving the historical integrity of the needle arts. While in South Carolina, Ann was a member of the Church of Our Saviour on Johns Island. In Manheim, Ann enjoyed volunteering at Pleasant View Retirement Community and was a member of St. Edward’s Episcopal Church in Lancaster, PA. Ann is survived by her husband of 61 years, William M. “Bill” Kline, Jr., and their four children William M. “Tripp” Kline, III (Suzanne Ewing) of Washington, PA; Kurt F. Kline (Michele) of Enterprise, AL; Laury E. Poland of Burdett, NY; Kimberly A. Schwartz (Mark) of Petoskey, MI; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 10 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Edward’s Episcopal Church, 2453 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the service.
